Overview

Antichi Sapori, nestled in the heart of Rome on Via delle Sette Chiese, offers a genuine taste of traditional Italian cuisine that captures the soul of Roman gastronomy. This Italian restaurant stands out not just for its authentic dishes but also for the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes every guest feel like family.

The menu is a celebration of classic Roman flavors, featuring iconic dishes such as Carbonara, Tonnarelli Cacio E Pepe, and Tagliolini Con La Pajata. These plates exemplify the kitchen’s dedication to preserving authentic recipes while delivering bold, satisfying flavors. Highlights like the Mezze Maniche Con La Pajata and Polpettine Di Benvenuto Pane Condito demonstrate a mastery of rich, comforting tastes that transport diners to the heart of Italy’s culinary tradition.

Particularly notable is the pasta, praised for its perfect texture and balanced seasoning—evident in dishes like the ravioli ai pepe, where simple ingredients like high-quality olive oil and freshly ground black pepper elevate the experience. The inclusion of lesser-known local specialties such as Pasta all’acqua Con Pesto Di Arachidi and Tagliolini Noci E Pistacchio reflects an adventurous yet respectful approach to regional cooking.

The space itself feels intimate yet lively, aligning with the casual yet refined spirit of Roman eateries beloved by locals. Diners often sit on the sunny terrace, an inviting spot where the fresh air complements hearty servings of Arrosticini or a well-cooked Entrecôte served with spinach, parmesan, and grilled vegetables.

Service here receives high marks for friendliness and attentiveness, with staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. This hospitality, paired with quality homemade dishes, creates an inclusive environment that appeals to a broad audience—from families to food enthusiasts seeking authentic Roman fare away from the tourist-heavy city center. Wine offerings, including a thoughtfully curated house wine, pair effortlessly with meals to enhance the dining journey without overwhelming the palate.

Overall, Antichi Sapori embodies the essence of Rome’s culinary heritage through carefully prepared foods, genuine service, and a welcoming atmosphere. For those searching for an authentic and satisfying Italian meal in a vibrant neighborhood setting, this restaurant is a true gem worth discovering.

I am not sure what other folks didn't like, but this was a great experience in the neighborhood where we were staying. I had been trying for several days to try some cacio ai pepe, which I understand to be a uniquely Roman specialty. This place had ravioli ai pepe. There were just four in the dish but it was perfect: delicious filling, perfect pasta texture (not overcooked), superb olive oil and ground black pepper. Somehow simple and conplex.. I had also ordered "broccoli" which turned out to be spinach sauteed in butter and something spicy. So delicious. Really hit the greens spot I had been aiming for. The ubiquitous bread basket was deliciously multigrainy, the house white wine was delightful (in the sweet spot between dry and sweet) and came in the right sized wee carafe for 1 adult. My 11 and 14 year old had various preparations of grilled steak/fillet (bistecco/filleto) as well as the bread. We were all satisfied, and for much less than worse meals in the city center. Perhaps we are easy to please. But nonetheless, we were pleased.
